Christmas and New Year's

You flew down to Asheville and we began by having Krishnan Christmas at Leah’s.  It was so amazing being around you, family, and Juliet just celebrating the holidays.  Thursday morning we drove with Juliet and Karina to Charlotte to visit with Jake and Lani Wallace and then we spent the afternoon with Leah, Andrew, Venny, Gayathri, and family.  We played with the kidlets at the park, had a yummy Indian dinner, and then finished up the evening playing Catch Phrase in the hotel room.  Friday we headed to D.C. and dropped off Karina on the way.  You and I had some great talking time in the car and Juliet pooped like ten times.   We spent the night in because I was starting to feel sick.  Saturday we went to Georgetown, decided we would name one of our children Anastazia, and took Juliet to the pool where she just laughed and laughed.  Then you and I had a pizza and movie night.  Sunday you had to work and Juliet and I simply tired to survive at home alone and both sick.  You finally made it home and you were amazing taking care of both of us.  Monday we packed up and headed back to Asheville.  For New Years we went out for drinks at the LAB and then stayed in to watch the ball drop…I could not stay awake.  Sorry.  The next two days we were able to get lots of wedding planning done, have a date night out to Nacho’s restaurant, and simply have a good time.  I am so in love with you!

Biltmore and Pre-Christmas Activities

You came to town with Pete and Bree, and my friend Karina was visiting me from Mexico.  We didn’t get a lot of alone time, but we did a lot of fun stuff!  We did marriage counseling, Biltmore House and Winery (!!!), Tupelo Honey, Chocolate Lounge, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, lots of nose blowing, 12 Bones, naps, Salsas, Zambras, Over Easy, and finally Wal-Mart for some last minute Christmas shopping.  I think that my favorite parts of the weekend were the Biltmore Winery (I wonder why?!?!) and shopping with you at Wal-Mart.  Shopping together was our only alone time and we were doing something “normal”; I loved it.

Thanksgiving and Meeting Family

You arrived at 2am and had me go out to your car.  We laid in the back and listened to “Solo por un Beso”.  There were candles too.  SO romantic; I love it!  Monday, Leah took pictures of us at the Botanical Gardens.  Monday night we went on a date downtown.  It started with beer at the Bier Garden, dinner at Jerusalem Garden, and dessert at the Chocolate Lounge.  It was wonderful.  I love dating you!  On Tuesday we spent most of the day registering at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.   It was so fun planning our future together!  We also ate at 12 Bones, had our first pre-marital counseling session with Mark, and cooked Tortilla Soup and Empanadas for my parents for dinner and then sat down and ate with them.  Wednesday we visited my Grandmother, C.P. and Aunt Becky in Lenoir.  They loved you.  That evening we did Thanksgiving with the Krishnan’s and Zetterholms of Asheville.  On Thanksgiving Day we drove up to Danville for Thanksgiving with my mom’s family.  You learned the Thanksgiving ABC tradition, got my grandmother’s diamond ring, and made a great impression!

APSS Gala, 19th Bday, and Engagement

You arrived to my house at 3am and then headed over to Leah’s to “spend the night”.  You met with my dad the next morning to ask if you could marry me…I didn’t know this of course!  We ate at 12 bones, went shooting with Ryan’s community group, and then went to the Asheville Pregnancy Support Services where my story was shared.  We finished off the evening at the LAB with beer and Sangria.  On the 11th we celebrated your 19th birthday with blackberry pancakes, presents (a pizza cutter :) ), pumpkin flag cake and pink glitter candles, La Zoom Tour, and Hot Springs with massages.  Later that evening you proposed to me in my backyard by a bonfire with s’mores.  I said “yes”.

So this night you had told me we had one more thing to do after a long day of celebrating your 19th birthday.  You took me into the back yard where you made a fire and had chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers to make s'mores.  We had done this about a month before in D.C. and had a great time so I just figured you were being sweet by recreating it again.

After sitting there a little while I could tell you were getting really nervous and I thought "what is about to happen to me?".  You handed me a box, but not a ring box and I thought, why are you so nervous to give me jewelry? I opened it and inside was a necklace.

Micah: "Will you marry me?"
Me: "Are you for real?"
Micah: "Yes."
Me: "...... yes?!"
 ...........
Me: "This is so sketch.  Do my parents know?"
Micah: "Yes! And so does Leah, and Caroline, and ....."
Me: "Ok! Then, YES!"

You then started telling me about how you had had the necklace made.  It has two Indian rubies (our birthstones) that you bought in India three years ago.  One ruby is the central stone and one ruby is part of the clasp.  Then each of the rubies are surrounded by white sapphires which are Juliet's birthstone.  My only "requirement" for being proposed to was to be surprised, and to say I was surprised would be putting it nicely.  I was more like confused, in denial, and shocked.  I think it took me till the next day to settle into excitement!

The next day was a blur as we jumped right into wedding planning.  We celebrated at Papa’s and Beer for dinner.  Tuesday you stopped by App State to watch me teach Spanish on your way home to D.C.  You totally had to kiss me in my office, just for the story.

Newly Engaged!

Life with a kid...in D.C.

Juliet and I visited D.C.  We ate out at Oyemel with Ashley, Andrew, Van, Matt, and Nate.  We went to gymnastics class with Ashley and Van.  We drank margaritas with Trevor.  We went out to Mike and Meredith’s engagement party.  We napped J.  We went to your church.  Welcome to real life with a 1-year-old!

On the way to Mike and Meredith's engagement party you totally mentioned that your mom had suggested you propose the next week at the APSS Gala where I would be sharing my story.  We both laughed at how crazy that was because it was so soon.  Ha.  Little did I know what was to come....
